The amount of～の使い方
amountは、不可算名詞や抽象的な名詞に対して使われます。
例えば、時間/雪/音/愛/プライドなどなど、以下の例文のように、数えることができないけど、大きさ（量）を表すことってありますよね。
＜例文＞
・The amount of his love is too much for me.
(彼の愛は私には大きすぎます。)
・The amount of snow this year was crazy.
(今年の雪の量はすごかったです。)
・We recorded the amount of time to finish the operation.
(私たちはその業務を完了するのにかかる時間を記録しました。)
The number of～の使い方
numberは、車、人、家、話題など、可算名詞に対して使われます。
＜例文＞
・The number of houses in this town is around 1 million.
(この町の家の数は、約１００万戸です。)
・The number of cars TOYOTA manufacture is about 13,400 per day.
(トヨタは、一日に約13,400台の車を生産します。)
・The number of topics we have today is three.
(本日の議題は３つです。)
